
For Week Four of the popular series The Apprentice 2019, Lord Sugar calls the candidates to the London Transport Museum, home to 200 years of transport history. There he reveals to them that for this week’s task they will be creating and selling their own range of electric bikes, or e-bikes as they are often called.
They will have to create a prototype e-bike then plan and host their own launch event, at which they will attempt to sell their new e-bikes to some of the UK’s most successful cycle retailers.
Half of each team travels to Nottingham to develop their new e-bikes, where indecision sends one team into a wheel spin, while for the other team colour almost causes a bad collision.
The other half of each team stays in London to pick accessories and create marketing materials. There are tough negotiations as usual and for one team, a change in direction at the last minute.
At their events, both teams try to sell their bikes to retailers. Poor pricing decisions and pushy people means sales are an uphill struggle. Then, in the boardroom, the wheels come off and one member of the losing team is told – “You’re Fired!” Nothing new there then
