Assynt Achiltibuie CircularFor cyclists wanting a long-distance ride in the Scottish Highlands should consider the Assynt Achiltibuie Circular which is 112km long.  One of VisitScotland’s Top 11 best cycle routes will take bikers across the wild countryside of Scotland’s north-west. Starting in Achiltibuie, the route follows a road past stunning mountains such as Sula Bheinn, Cùl Mòr and Stac Pollaidh, and also beaches and stunning lochs. Take a cycling map

It is 130Km from Inverness and ideal for cyclists wanting to experience Scotland’s rugged landscape and abundant lochs.

Departure: Achiltibuie on roads. Distance covered will be 70.06 miles or 112.55 km • Cycling time is around 7 hours

This trail is a challenging ride but stunning coastal scenery on a variety of single track and A class roads. From Achiltibuie, ride north towards Lochinver. It’s worth stopping at the Lochinver Larder to taste one of their famous pies. Then onto the coastal road to Drumbeg and Newton, before joining the A894 and seeing the side of Loch Assynt and Ardvreck Castle.

When you get to Ledmore, continue on the A835 turning right after Drumrunie and back to Achiltibuie. There are lots of assents and decents and plenty of sheep.
