Start: Girona to Gipuzkoa

This 500 mile route is a trans-Pyrenees journey from the Cantabrian coast to the Mediterranean in Girona province.  The Transpirenaica is a superb way to experience Spanish culture, food and breathtaking views rural experiences on two wheels.

Part of the Europe-wide GR network of footpaths, its bold red and white markings have guided numerous cyclists  through protected areas in the Basque Country, Navarre, Aragon, Andorra, and Catalonia passing by 3,000m peaks with accommodation available in mountain villages.

As you cycle through the Pyrenees, you’ll chance upon rustic villages, small farms and amazing natural areas. If you like cycling the mountain passes this will be your heaven, and you can ride some of the Tour de France route.

It is certified as a GR route, GR 11. You can choose the road bike or mountain bike version. Some training is advisable beforehand to make the most of this demanding route. You will go through
green valleys and forests, see snow-capped mountains and mountain lakes.
