Handlebar tape on road bikes quickly becomes worn and dirty especially if it is a light colour. Fortunately its cheap to replace and with a bit of practice easy to do yourself. All you will need is bar tape, electrical insulation tape and scissors.
Bar tape comes in a wide variety of colour and thicknesses. Thicker bar tap can provide a surprising mount of cushioning and is ofetn used on touring bikes. Some riders double wrap their handle bars for extra comfort. It is better to buy good quality handlebar tape as this is easier to wrap.
