Above Xiamen’s road system is the world’s longest elevated cycle path which covers 7.6 kilometres across the city providing a safe and quick way to cycle across the city. Xiamen Bicycle Skyway links five major residential areas and three business centres in Xiamen. The cycle skyway is suspended under an elevated bus lane and links with the city’s bus and subway public transport network.
Xiamen Bicycle Skyway is 4.8 metres wide which allow several bicycles to travel side-by-side. There are eleven entry and exit points allowing cyclists access to bus and BRT (raised bus transit line) stations, overpasses, shopping malls and other public buildings.
The skyway has a capacity for 2,000 bikes and includes rental points for those without their own bike.
